An exploration of digital humans as an expressive medium, translating presence, timing and philosophy into a believable realtime performance.
This project is an exploration of digital humans as a new expressive medium. The goal was not to recreate a person, but to translate presence, timing, and philosophy into a believable digital performance, one that could hold a conversation without relying on spectacle.
Subtle facial motion, controlled pacing, and clarity of expression mattered more than exaggeration. The process started with deep reference work: Bruce Lee's interviews, body language and speaking rhythm. All dialogue used in the demo is based on ideas he publicly discussed, carefully curated and structured.
The work moved into sculpting, look development, grooming and animation, with performance built through layered animation combining lip sync, emotion control and subtle body movement. Third-party AI tools handle the conversational brain and voice, while Unreal Engine drives expression, lighting and overall presence.
The result is a foundation that scales into interactive virtual agents, educational experiences, museum installations, and full holographic systems.
We can translate any presence, real or fictional, into a believable, conversational digital human.
The Bruce Lee Demo is a Digito R&D exploration, a realtime digital human channelling Bruce Lee's presence, timing and philosophy. The project was about pushing the medium itself: how do you translate something as intangible as charisma into a realtime performance? The answer involved hand-tuned facial animation, custom voice modelling, and a dialogue layer trained on Bruce Lee's writing and recorded interviews.
Technically, the demo runs on Unreal Engine 5 with MetaHuman foundations, augmented by custom skin shading, groom work and lighting setups that give the character a cinematic look in realtime. The dialogue layer is driven by an LLM with extensive context tuning so the character stays in voice. It's the kind of project that informs everything we ship for client work, every push on R&D becomes a tool we can use later.
If you have an idea for a character that needs presence, for a brand, a film tie-in, an experiential installation, we'd love to hear it. See more projects from the Digito studio.
